Unknown Worlds is an indie gaming studio that’s not so indie. Their biggest game to date: Subnautica has gone on to do 6 million copies sold worldwide. With that said, they approached us (based on our experience in the gaming industry) because they were releasing their newest game and sequel: Subnautica: Below Zero and needed help developing a dynamic ane engaging landing page for the launch.
Client’s Dilemma
Subnautica is a best-seller, but the online branding outside of their immersive games needed an upgrade. Subnautica: Below Zero was set to release and a landing page needed to be created to capture users.
First, we decided to use Webflow for the build. it was versatile and we could envision a dynamic site design. We developed a sitemap for the one-page site experience as well as a detailed wireframe. Since Subnautica takes place under water, we decided to make the website start at the “surface” and darken as you scrolled, giving it a stylish feel reflective of progression through the game.
We launched the day before the pre-sale and website traffic skyrocketed with tens of thousands of visitors. With powerful hosting by Amazon Web Services, traffic and visitors were able to browse the website with ease, navigating to their favorite links and creating trackable data across the board.
In Subnautica: Below Zero, dive into a freezing underwater adventure on an alien planet. Set one year after the original Subnautica, Below Zero challenges you to survive a disaster at an alien research station on Planet 4546B. Craft tools, scavenge for supplies, and unravel the next chapter in the Subnautica story. View our design process below
